Why We Still Love the Lickin’ Layers Dog Puzzle Feeder (After 3 Years!)

You know a dog product is a winner when it’s been in our rotation for three whole years and still gets tails wagging. The Outward Hound by Nina Ottosson Lickin’ Layers Puzzle Feeder is basically the OG brain game in our house.

We picked it up back when Stormy was getting bored between adventures (and eating faster than I could blink), and let me tell you—it’s been a total game-changer.

Why We Still Love It After All This Time:

🧩 It’s a Level 2 puzzle toy, so it gives dogs a fun challenge without being so hard they flip it over and quit. Perfect for enrichment beginners or pups who are “too smart for their own good.”

🔄 Three spinning layers with over 100 compartments = longer mealtime and more mental stimulation.

🧘 Calmer dogs, fewer chaos gremlins. It helps redirect chewing, barking, and digging into something productive.

🍽️ Works as a slow feeder too, holding up to 1.5 cups of wet or dry food. (Great if your dog eats like they’re auditioning for Hot Dog Speed-Eating Olympics.)

This thing has survived three years, multiple dogs, and more kibble than I care to admit. If you're looking for a way to burn some brain energy, slow down meals, and give your dog a satisfying "job," this one's a solid pick.
